American Red Cross of Western New York is assisting with an Ontario County outreach for the “Sound the Alarm” home fire safety program.
Home fires remain the most frequent disaster in the U.S., and on average, seven people die each day—often in homes without working smoke alarms. Working alarms can cut the risk of death in half. Information on how to receive a FREE SMOKE ALARM can be found HERE.
As part of the American Red Cross Western New York Home Fire Campaign, trained volunteers can visit homes in your town or village to:
Install up to three free smoke alarms
Help residents develop a 2-minute escape plan
Provide basic home fire safety education
