July 2011 Meeting
A. CONVOCATION:
1. The Canadice Town Board Meeting was held on July 11, 2011 at 7:30 pm at the Canadice Town Hall.
2. Roll call showed the following-
Present: Councilman Michael Virgil; Deputy Supervisor
Councilman Leland Durkee
Councilman John O’Connor
Councilman William Hershey
Absent: Supervisor Kristine Singer
Others Present: Three (3) guests/residents attended the Regular Town Board Meeting.
3. Salute to the Flag.
4. Approval of June 13, 2011 Regular Meeting Minutes-
Note: Minutes of the preceding meeting shall be approved without being read, unless the reading thereof is called for by a Member of this Board - the minutes are available for review at the Office of the Town Clerk.
Councilman Durkee motioned, Councilman O’Connor seconded, and it was unanimously carried to approve the minutes of the June 13, 2011 Regular Town Board Meeting.

C. COMMUNICATIONS:

D. REPORTS:
1. Town Clerk/Tax Collector- Mrs. Eileen Schaefer.
a. The financial report for the Town Clerk/Tax Collector for the month of June was submitted (see T. C. file).
Councilman O’Connor motioned, Councilman Hershey seconded, and it was unanimously carried to accept the Town Clerk/Tax Collector’s report.

2. Historian- Mrs. Margaret Bott.
a. Nothing to report.
3. Code Enforcement Officer- Mr. Robert Best.
a. The written report for the month of June was submitted (see T. C. file).
4. Planning Board- Mr. Theodore Mayhood.
a. The June draft minutes were submitted (see T.C. file). Mr. Bob Henry attended for Mr. Mayhood.
5. Zoning Board of Appeals- Mrs. Linda Moorhouse.
a. No report.
6. Highway Superintendent- Mr. Bruce Longbine.
a. We are working on Luckenbach Hill Road.
b. Remainder of the door/column pricing information was received and provided to the Board.
c. There was a brief discussion on a storage tank agreement to hold a product that would be mixed with salt; the company is out of Albion.
7. Hemlock-Canadice State Forest-
a. Nothing reported.
8. Honeoye Lake Watershed Research Taskforce Liaison- Councilman Hershey.
a. Nothing to report at this time.
9. Assessor- Ms. Valary Muscarella.
a. The written report for the month of June was submitted (see T. C. file).
10. Supervisor- Ms. Kristine Singer.
a. The financial report for the month of June was submitted (see T.C. file) and read by Deputy Supervisor Virgil.
Councilman O’Connor motioned, Councilman Durkee seconded, and it was unanimously carried to approve the financial report.

b. Resolution Number 39 of 2011- Budget Modification
Councilman Durkee motioned, Councilman Hershey seconded, and it was unanimously carried to approve the budget modification.

WHEREAS, The Budget Officer has received revenue from the sale of equipment; and
WHEREAS, The equipment purchase plan takes into consideration the receipt of such funds as a revenue source when making the equipment purchases; and
WHEREAS, The sale of equipment did not meet budget projections; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Board directs the Budget Officer to make the following 2011 budget modifications:
Increase DA2665, Equipment Sale by $20,000.00
Increase DA5130.2, Machinery, Equipment by $20,000.00
E. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. Proposed Water District – The vote is scheduled for 8/20; 8:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Town Hall. Reminder postcards will be mailed the beginning of August.
F. NEW BUSINESS:
1. Fire Contracts- Proposals and suggestions will be discussed at the August meeting.
2. Resolution Number 40 of 2011 – Resolution of Sympathy - Frances Knobel
Councilman O’Connor motioned, Councilman Hershey seconded, and it was unanimously carried to approve the resolution.

WHEREAS, This Board was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Frances Knobel; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Knobel served this Town and its residents as Town Justice for 8 years from 1990 to 1997; and
WHEREAS, Justice Knobel was a dedicated and fair Judge; and
WHEREAS, Judge Knobel continued her service in the judicial system working and volunteering in the 7th Judicial District after her retirement from the bench in Canadice; and
WHEREAS, Judge Knobel was a lifetime member of the New York State Magistrates Association; and
WHEREAS, Judge Knobel left her mark in the history of this Town with her fair yet firm administration of the law in Town; and
WHEREAS, The entire Town of Canadice wishes to pay its respects to the memory of this fine citizen; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Town Board of the Town of Canadice extends its sympathy to the family and friends of Frances Knobel; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That this Resolution be entered as part of the permanent records of the Proceedings of the Town and be retained in its book of minutes forever; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of this Board send a certified copy of this resolution to the family of Mrs. Frances Knobel.
3. Approval of the Bills –
Councilman Durkee motioned, Councilman O’Connor seconded, and it was unanimously carried that the bills are to be paid in the following amounts:

General Account Voucher #180 to #208 $ 10,227.20
Highway Account Voucher #099 to #115 $ 84,673.11

G. PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR:
1. Councilman O’Connor submitted the proposal for everyone to review from Thornton Engineering LLP for engineering services; intersection evaluation and recommendations. After some discussion, Councilman O’Connor indicated he will contact Ontario County again and we can review the whole situation at the next meeting.

Councilman O’Connor motioned, Councilman Hershey seconded, and it was unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting at 8:03 pm.
